How the perfect jacket led to a perfect partnership

At last year’s Great British Entrepreneur Awards, Wynne Evans (The Go Compare man), spotted finalist Simon Washbrook’s eye-catching floral jacket in a twitter post from the event. After pulling him up on stage to quiz him about his bold jacket, Simon was given the amazing opportunity to pitch to the audience.

To the amusement of the crowd, Simon spectacularly fluffed his big moment when he nearly forgot the name of his own company, popcorn! Fortunately he pulled it together in time to impress Francesca James, the founder of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards… Following several conversations and fast forwarding a year, popcorn is now very proud to announce a partnership with The Great British Entrepreneur Awards.

Now in its eighth year, the Great British Entrepreneur Awards acknowledges the hard work and inspiring stories of entrepreneurs and businesses in the UK. It celebrates the incredible stories that have taken entrepreneurs to where they are today, regardless of size or turnover.

popcorn is the simple to use customer conversion software that supports business owners who are looking to move on from multiple Marketing tools (MailChimp, Trello, spreadsheets etc…), but don’t have the need for time consuming and expensive solutions like HubSpot or SalesForce.

Francesca James, founder of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Simon and the team at popcorn. Simon was a finalist at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards in 2019 and we recently started talking about working together to use popcorn for our email communications to members and subscribers.

“It’s a great fit because it enables us to work with an entrepreneurial business, share his offering with our wider community and benefit from his support and expertise. You just don’t get that when you use a faceless interface or system.”

Simon Washbrook, Founder of popcorn, said: “We were extremely proud to be a finalist in the Midlands 2019 Great British Entrepreneur Awards, and were even more impressed with the way that the programme went on to support its community afterwards. This is why I am delighted to become a Partner, and continue to support British Entrepreneurs adopt a dynamic approach to improving their customer conversion.”
